about

His red boots caught my eye, but I believe it's the soulful voice and "Southern Fried" piano playing of my husband, Gary Timbs, that will touch your soul, make you stop to listen.
Gary's a dynamic performer who has toured with several acclaimed groups, including the Grammy-winning Statesmen Quartet, and Country Music Hall of Famer Sonny James. He has jammed with Elvis Presley, the Statler Brothers and George Jones, and he's performed with Mickey Gilley as a guest pianist.
Gary was with the Statesmen when their album, "I Believe in Jesus", was nominated for a Grammy, and album which included two songs he wrote. One of those songs, "Roll Back River Jordan", was nominated for the Gospel Dove Award's "Song of the Year", losing out to Kris Kristofferson's "Why Me Lord". That same year, Gary was nominated for a Dove Award as "Most Promising New Artist".
Music has been a part of Gary's life since the beginning. He was born in Atlanta, Ga., and grew up performing gospel music with his family in old time tent-meeting churches throughout Eastern Tennessee where his dad was a preacher. The Timbs family were also regulars on radio shows hosted by Archie "Gradpappy" Campbell of Hee Haw fame, and Cas Walker, the latter being the same venue where Dolly Parton got her start.
A self-taught musician, Gary's been playing the piano and B3 organ since he was a kid, and he continues to entertain audiences with is one-of-a-kind musical style, which he considers to be a gift from God.
These days Gary and I make our home in rural Minnesota with our dog, Minnie, and cats, Hank and Hazel. He's a proud dad of Tabby and Matt and grandpa of Stephen, Abigail, Noah and Payton. Occasionally, Gary and I perform concerts together, as well as with my family, The Schimpps, and my sister band, Ruby Boots.
Although he's miles from Dixie, Gary's still got that Southern charm and those ruby boots that first caught my eye.

Dawn Timbs

Thanks to my darlin' wife Dawn, who made this project happen and to the Good Lord who let it happen. Thanks also to the Staples Motley Area Arts Council, to all the good folks who pre-ordered CD's, Julie G. for her expertise, Treasure and Precious for their hospitality, Dennis and Rita for the pancakes and prayers, Tom P. for his creative advice, Mr. Steve for his kind encouragement, and The Bean and his momma for stopping by.

Gratefully, Gary T.
